Fachgebiet Transport Technology and Safety in Logistics

Based in the Faculty of Management and Information Systems at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, this professorship covers the fields of Transport Technology and Safety in Logistics. A laboratory for Safety in Logistics is attached to the post.

Recruitment Requirements

  • A completed university degree, preferably in logistics or a comparable discipline (related field).
  • Outstanding skills in scientific research, typically demonstrated by a qualifying doctoral degree.
  • Pedagogical and didactic aptitude for teaching at a university, as well as a willingness to undertake further training in university teaching methodology.
  • Outstanding achievements in applying or developing scientific knowledge and methods, gained through at least five years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years outside the higher education sector.
  • Proven expertise and practical experience in the logistics sector with a focus on transport technology and safety.
  • Proven experience in a position of responsibility within the logistics industry or related fields.
  • Ability and willingness to teach in both German and English.



We would also welcome:

  • Practical experience in the subject areas covered to be taught.
  • Knowledge in the areas of supply chain resilience, digitalisation of logistics systems, data-driven risk assessment, and sustainable and resilient logistics systems.
  • Enthusiasm for innovative teaching and learning methods in a practice-oriented and interdisciplinary learning environment.

  • You will primarily teach in the Bachelor's degree program “Transportation, Economics and Logistics” and in the partly English-taught Master's degree program “Logistics, Engineering and Management”.

Your responsibilities include, amongst other things:

  • Teaching in the areas of transport, transhipment and conveyor technology, transport and traffic systems, combined transport, cargo securing, safety engineering, risk assessment, hazardous substances and dangerous goods, quality management and, depending on your profile and departmental needs, fundamental engineering subjects such as mathematics, CAD and technical mechanics.
  • Supervising student projects, Bachelor's and Master's theses, internships and study-abroad placements.
  • Participating in the university’s self-governing bodies.
  • Contributing actively to the continuous development of teaching and student support as well as to the establishment and maintenance of partnerships with industry and other higher education institutions.
  • Maintaining a regular 4 days per week on-campus presence for teaching, examinations, consultation hours and participation in academic self-governance. Teaching exclusively in block format is not envisaged.
